Forage & Cultivate’s Lion’s Mane Tincture is made by soaking fresh Lion’s Mane mushroom fruitbody in 190 proof organic alcohol for two weeks at room temperature. After shaking the solution daily, the solvent (alcohol) is strained and the remaining Lion’s Mane fruitbody is combined with fresh fruitbody and soaked in reverse osmosis water for 6 hrs. in a crockpot on low heat with the lid off. The two solvents (alcohol and water) are then combined creating a dual-extract tincture.
Lion’s Mane fruitbody contains compounds known as Hericenones. Hericenones have been found in studies to enhance the growth cone of neurons and extend neurites (which are protrusions from a neuron that can either mature into dendrites or axons).
